Gunman In Triple-Fatal Philadelphia Shooting That Left 4th Critical Shot By Police: Cops

The gunman police believe was responsible for a quadruple shooting that left three people dead and a fourth critical was shot by authorities in Philadelphia early Monday, Oct. 2.

Gunfire rang out around 4:50 a.m. on the 6100 block of Shelbourne Street, where four people were shot, Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford said.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene while a fourth was hospitalized in critical condition.

Around 7 a.m., police stopped a suspect vehicle, and the suspect — a passenger — is believed to have shot at police, Stanford said. Officers returned fire, hitting the gunman, who was hospitalized in critical condition. 

The suspect was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just before 9 a.m.

The driver is being investigated for their possible role.
